Plays & Musicals

Great plays and musicals captured on film

Stanza’s team has won 3 Emmys out of 5 Emmy nominations for its work bringing the stage to the screen – far more than any other independent UK company. As a result Stanza was invited to join Stagescreen Global, an international group formed to capture plays and musicals for event cinema including legendary Broadway producer Nelle Nugent's Foxboro Productions and producer/distributor Ace Pictures along with investment and marketing specialists.

Seamlessly from stage to screen

Stanza's team has worked with many theatre production companies including the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as others in London's West End and on Broadway. As a result, their productions are seen by hundreds of thousands more people, providing revenues and raising awareness which actually boosts the box office of the show on the stage.

All the world’s a stage

From classic American musicals like Oklahoma! and Kiss Me, Kate! to revered European operas like Romeo et Juliette and I Capuleti e I Montecchi, to great British plays like The Merchant of Venice and King Lear, Stanza’s producers have filmed the finest stage performances. From grand to intimate, Stanza films shows of all scales down to solo works like Elaine Stritch At Liberty, Julia Migenes – Diva On The Verge and Simon Callow’s The Mystery of Charles Dickens.

Bringing theatre into the digital age

Cinemas, televisions, tablets and smartphones have become digital and internet-enabled, allowing people to see great works on screens of all sizes. Event cinema and subscription video on demand are revolutionising what we watch and how we watch it, creating a demand for new, high quality performances. Stanza has excellent relations with event cinema distributors and SVoD platforms as well as traditional TV broadcasters.
